CATALYST A WINNER AT THINK TANK OSCARS Catalyst beat off competition from better resourced organisations across the political spectrum to pick up the much-coveted "One To Watch" prize at the prestigious Think Tank of the Year Awards hosted by Prospect magazine at the 2003 Labour Party Conference. A broad judging panel chaired by Guardian columnist Jonathan Freedland offered special praise for Catherine Needham's Citizen-consumers, which they said was also a close runner for "Publication of the Year", and David Walker's In praise of centralism: a critique of the new localism, recently reported to have significantly influenced the Chancellor's thinking in the debate over Foundation Hospitals. " ...Catalyst came into its own this year... " " ...the thinking person's Old Labour... " " ...the work of Catalyst has provided us with some awkward moments...
" Accepting the award, Catalyst Director Martin McIvor thanked the many supporters, contributors and collaborators whose belief in Catalyst had enabled it to make such a valuable impact on the national policy debate.
